Snoo Review: Does the £1,000 Smart Bassinet Earn Its Price?

SNOO Smart Sleeper is a responsive bassinet with motion, sound and swaddling built into the proposition. That may fit some families’ routines, but it is a £1,000 early-stage purchase and it is NOT proven to prevent SIDS or replace safer-sleep guidance.

The good bits

What we liked

A very specific kind of help

SNOO gives parents a responsive routine to try when settling, resettling and night-time consistency are the household’s main frustrations.

The setup is deliberately contained

The bassinet, swaddles and app-led controls are part of one system, which can be easier to understand than assembling several separate sleep gadgets.

It may feel worthwhile for a short stage

Families who use the system often may feel the daily convenience has value, particularly if rental or resale makes the financial decision less absolute.

The trade-offs

What we didn’t like

£1,000 is a serious early-stage spend

The use window is short, and the cost is difficult to justify if the baby dislikes the motion, the household prefers a simpler setup or the next sleep space is already waiting.

Motion is not risk reduction

SNOO’s motion, monitoring and swaddling are not proven to prevent SIDS and must not be presented as doing so. They are product features, not a safer-sleep guarantee.

The adult still has to follow the limits

Correct swaddling, a clear sleep space, the right mattress and stopping at the weight or developmental limit remain essential parts of the job.

Method

How we tested it

We considered setup, app and sound controls, motion, swaddling, night-time handling, cleaning, storage, the short use window and the £1,000 ownership question. No: SNOO is not proven to prevent SIDS and is not a substitute for safer-sleep advice. Put baby on their back on a firm, flat, well-fitting mattress in a clear sleep space with no pillows, nests, bumpers or loose bedding; keep baby in the same room for the first six months; stop at the weight or developmental limit; and follow NHS and Lullaby Trust safer-sleep advice.

Testing methodology: Our testing method looks at the parts of family life that the box rarely shows: setup, daily handling, cleaning, storage, repeat use and the cost of keeping the product going. For safety-sensitive products, follow the current manufacturer instructions and relevant safer-sleep or travel guidance.

The decision

Final verdict

SNOO can earn its price for a family who uses its responsive routine heavily, can afford the short stage and treats the technology as convenience rather than protection. No: it is not proven to prevent SIDS. We would only shortlist it with the sleep guidance, stopping point and real cost understood; we would skip it for a simpler brief or a tight budget.

What safer-sleep rules still apply with SNOO?+

Is SNOO worth £1,000?+

Only for a family that expects to use the responsive routine regularly and has considered rental, resale, accessories and the short use window. It is not a universal sleep solution.
